Rub1 Antibody is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum.
Target Information
Ubiquitin-like proteins fall into two classes:
- Ubiquitin-like modifiers (UBLs) — act as modifiers analogous to ubiquitin. Examples: SUMO, Rub1 (Nedd8), Apg12, Hub1.
- Ubiquitin-domain proteins (UDPs) — include parkin, RAD23, DSK2; contain ubiquitin-related domains but are not conjugated to other proteins.
Rub1 (yeast homolog of Nedd8) is activated by the E1 enzyme UBA2, forming isopeptide linkages between thioesters.
Nedd8 shows 80% homology to ubiquitin.
Major targets of Rub1 modification are cullin family proteins, subunits of the SCF (Skp1/Cul1/Cdc53-F-box) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex.
Rub1 modification may regulate SCF function or localization.
