Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum.
The antibody is directed against human HER3 and is useful in determining its presence in immunoprecipitation experiments.
This antibody can detect HER3 from human, mouse, and rat sources. Reactivity with other species is unknown.

Target Information

ErbB3 (c-erbB-3/HER-3) is a member of the type I growth factor receptor family and binds to ligands in the heregulin family.
It is over-expressed in various tumors including prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon.
Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c-erbB-3 to different extents.
The ErbB3 gene is located on chromosome 12q13 and transcribed into a 6.2 kb mRNA, producing a 160/180 kDa glycoprotein.
ErbB3 forms heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members, activating pathways for cell proliferation or differentiation.
Alternate splice variants encode isoforms, including one secreted form that modulates membrane-bound activity.
