Target Information
Caspase-13 (also designated Evolutionarily related interleukin-1β converting enzyme; ERICE) is involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. It may function by activating proteins required for cell death or inactivating proteins necessary for cell survival.
Caspase-13 forms a heterodimer composed of a small and a large subunit, which are derived from the precursor sequence by autocatalytic cleavage or by Caspase-8.
Mainly expressed in peripheral blood lymphocytes, spleen, and placenta. Belongs to peptidase family C14.
