• For immunohistochemistry of PFA-fixed tissues: incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• For formalin-fixed tissues: heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
• Predicted to show broad reactivity.

Target Information

Smooth Muscle Actin (α-SMA) is a member of the actin family, highly conserved proteins essential for cell motility, structure, and integrity.
Alpha actin is a major component of the contractile apparatus, while beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility.
Smooth muscle actin is found in skeletal muscle, vessel walls, gut wall, myometrium, and myoepithelial cells.
It plays a crucial role in muscle contraction, cell motility, and cytokinesis.
Defects in the smooth muscle actin gene are associated with familial thoracic aortic aneurysm type 6.
Alpha-smooth muscle actin is abundant in vascular and visceral smooth muscle and may appear in fibroblastic cells during wound healing or fibrocontractive conditions.
Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been identified.
