MA1-10590 recognizes an epitope in the N-terminal region of the 83 kDa light chain of human Factor VIII.
This antibody does not cross-react with von Willebrand factor.
MA1-10590 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blot applications.
The immunogen used is purified human Factor VIII.

Target Information

The Factor VIII gene encodes a coagulation factor that participates in the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation.
Factor VIII acts as a cofactor for factor IXa, which, in the presence of Ca²⁺ and phospholipids, converts factor X to its activated form Xa.
This gene produces two alternatively spliced transcripts:

• Transcript variant 1 encodes isoform a, a large glycoprotein that circulates in plasma and associates with von Willebrand factor.
• Transcript variant 2 encodes isoform b, a smaller protein consisting mainly of the phospholipid-binding domain essential for coagulant activity.

Defects in this gene result in hemophilia A, a common recessive X-linked coagulation disorder.
