NP220 (ZNF638), also known as Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma-associated antigen se33-1, is a 1978 amino acid protein with one matrin-type zinc finger and two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains, indicating a role in transcriptional regulation.
NP220 binds to double-stranded DNA fragments by recognizing clusters of cytidines, interacts with FHL-2, and is phosphorylated by ATM or ATR upon DNA damage.
It exists in five isoforms due to alternative splicing; Isoform 5 is a tumor-associated antigen found in several cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL), including mycosis fungoides and Sezary syndrome.
