Target Information
Cystatin C는 type 2 cystatin 초패밀리에 속하는 강력한 cysteine proteinase 억제제입니다. 내인성(lysosomal cathepsins) 및 병원성 단백질분해효소를 모두 억제하며, 약 13 kDa의 분비 단백질로 생체액 내 고농도로 존재합니다.
모든 인간 핵세포에서 발현되는 것으로 알려져 있으며, atherosclerosis, amyloid angiopathy, myocardial infarction 등 다양한 심혈관 질환에서 변화가 보고되었습니다.
낮은 분자량 덕분에 신부전의 바이오마커로도 활용됩니다.
