Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production. Advantages include:

This antibody has specificity for Rat ICAM-1/CD54.

Target Information

ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein with five immunoglobulin superfamily repeats, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain.
It has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50).
ICAM-1 binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus.

ICAM-1 is expressed by activated endothelial cells and detected on epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes (low), monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils. Expression increases upon inflammation and is also found in certain carcinoma and melanoma cells. Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in various inflammatory conditions.
