Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits include 4 RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins. The RPS9 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S4P family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Variable expression of RPS9 has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to adjacent normal tissues, though no correlation with disease severity has been found. Multiple processed pseudogenes derived from this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
