Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms a heterodimer with p50 or p52 subunits of NF-kB. Upon TNF-α binding to its receptor, IKK is phosphorylated, leading to phosphorylation and proteasomal degradation of IκB, allowing NF-kB to translocate to the nucleus. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcription of the immunoglobulin κ gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
