Target Information
The Ku80 protein (also known as XRCC5) is the 80-kDa subunit of the Ku heterodimer, functioning as part of the DNA-dependent protein kinase complex. It plays a key role in DNA double-strand break repair through non-homologous end joining and in V(D)J recombination. Mutations or polymorphisms in XRCC5 are associated with defective DNA repair and variable radiosensitivity, and in some cases, increased cancer susceptibility.
