Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous IRS-1 protein at molecular weights of approximately 132 and 180 kDa.
Purity is >95% by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
IRS-1 is a major substrate of the insulin receptor and is phosphorylated in response to stimulation by insulin, IGF-1, and IL-4. It undergoes serine, threonine, and tyrosine phosphorylation in various tissues. Casein kinase II mediates part of the insulin-stimulated phosphorylation of IRS-1, with Thr502 and Ser99 identified as key sites. IRS-1 also contains three potential 14-3-3 binding sites (Ser270, Ser374, Ser641), with Ser270 located in the phosphotyrosine-binding domain responsible for interaction with the insulin receptor.
