Antibody detects endogenous levels of total DUSP1/MKP1.
Target Information
The expression of DUSP1 gene is induced in human skin fibroblasts by oxidative or heat stress and growth factors. It encodes a protein similar to non-receptor-type protein-tyrosine phosphatases and shows significant sequence similarity to a Tyr/Ser-protein phosphatase from vaccinia virus. The bacterially expressed DUSP1 protein exhibits intrinsic phosphatase activity and specifically inactivates MAP kinase by dephosphorylating both phosphothreonine and phosphotyrosine residues. It also suppresses MAP kinase activation by oncogenic ras in Xenopus oocyte extracts, suggesting its role in cellular stress response and negative regulation of proliferation.
