Antibody detects endogenous levels of fragment of activated Caspase4 resulting from cleavage adjacent to Gln81.
Target Information
Caspases are cysteine proteases expressed as inactive precursors that mediate apoptosis by proteolysis of specific substrates. They cleave after aspartic acid residues and are divided into two classes:
- Initiator caspases (e.g., Caspase-8, Caspase-9) activated by receptor clustering
- Effector caspases (e.g., Caspase-3, Caspase-7) activated by mitochondrial permeability transition
Proapoptotic signals autocatalytically activate initiator caspases, which subsequently process effector caspases leading to cell collapse.
