Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are subunits of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. They are divided into three classes:

• Fbws: Contain WD-40 domains
• Fbls: Contain leucine-rich repeats
• Fbxs: Contain other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

The FBXO8 protein belongs to the Fbxs class and has a C-terminal sequence similar to yeast Sec7p, a regulator of vesicular protein transport. It may interact with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) and show ARF-GEF activity.
