Target Information
Nuclear receptor TLX (NR2E1) is a hepatocyte NF4-like receptor that influences anterior brain differentiation, retinal development, and vision. TLX regulates genes such as RAR beta2 and Pax2 during retinal development.
Homozygous TLX mutant mice are viable at birth but exhibit reduced forebrain development and increased aggression. Deletion of the TLX locus results in cerebral hypoplasia, blindness, and extreme aggression (fierce phenotype). TLX expression has been observed in mouse brain and eye, and ESTs have been isolated from normal human brain libraries.
