Target Information
The DMRT1 gene is part of a cluster sharing a zinc finger-like DNA-binding motif (DM domain), a conserved component of the vertebrate sex-determining pathway. It plays a key role in male development in various species. This gene shows gonad-specific and sexually dimorphic expression. Defects or hemizygosity can lead to abnormal testicular development and XY feminization.
