Target Information
Specificity of vesicular transport is regulated by interactions among synaptobrevin/VAMP, syntaxin, and SNAP25. These proteins form a complex that mediates membrane fusion. SNAP23, structurally and functionally similar to SNAP25, binds to multiple syntaxins and synaptobrevins/VAMPs and plays a key role in vesicle docking and fusion across various tissues. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
