Target Information
SIRT5 is a human member of the sirtuin protein family (Sir2-like proteins) found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. All Sir2-like proteins share a conserved sirtuin core domain. These proteins metabolize NAD and may act as mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases. Their enzymatic function is not yet fully understood, but studies suggest possible coupled activation mechanisms involving NAD metabolism and histone deacetylation.
