Target Information
BUBR1 is a Ser/Thr protein kinase involved in the mitotic checkpoint, ensuring proper chromosome attachment before anaphase. Defects in spindle checkpoint function can lead to genetic instability and cancer progression.
Human cells express two related kinases, hBUBR1 and hBUB1, which monitor kinetochore-microtubule interactions. BUBR1 is essential for normal mitosis and has been implicated in various human cancers, including breast cancer, through its interaction with BCSG1.
