• Tested in direct ELISA (use antibody at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
• Does not react with Rat.
• For Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• For formalin-fixed tissues: heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Calnexin (also known as IP90, p88, p90) is an approximately 90 kDa integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It functions as a molecular chaperone, assisting in proper folding and assembly of polypeptides into multisubunit proteins.
Calnexin associates with MHC class I heavy chains, partial T cell receptor complexes, and B cell membrane immunoglobulin, but not with completed receptor complexes. It retains incompletely folded proteins in the ER.
Unlike soluble ER resident proteins that contain the KDEL sequence, calnexin lacks KDEL but has positively charged cytosolic residues for ER retention.
Calnexin structure includes:

• ER luminal domain: 461 amino acids
• Transmembrane segment: 22 amino acids
• Cytoplasmic tail: 89 amino acids
