Target Information
C6 is a component of the complement cascade and part of the membrane attack complex (MAC), which can insert into cell membranes and cause cell lysis.
Deficiency of C6 increases susceptibility to bacterial infections.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene.
