Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein.
It belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
CD28 acts as a critical co-stimulatory receptor by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells, providing the second activation signal for T cells.
It also prevents T cells from entering an anergic state or undergoing premature apoptosis.
In murine models, CD28 expression is observed on all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, with varying levels across thymocyte maturation stages.
Diseases associated with CD28 dysfunction include mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
