Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein.
It is a cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily, constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
CD28 provides a critical co-stimulatory signal by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells, preventing T cells from entering anergic or apoptotic states.
In murine lymphoid organs, all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells express CD28, with expression highest on immature thymocytes.
Diseases associated with CD28 dysfunction include mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
