Product Specific Information

  • Antibody is tested in direct ELISA (use 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

The F13A1 gene encodes the coagulation factor XIII A subunit, the final zymogen activated in the blood coagulation cascade.

  • Plasma factor XIII is a heterotetramer composed of two A subunits (catalytic) and two B subunits (carrier).
  • Platelet factor XIII contains only A subunits, identical to those in plasma.
  • Activation by thrombin and calcium releases B subunits, forming the active enzyme Factor XIIIa, a transglutaminase that crosslinks fibrin molecules to stabilize clots.
  • It also crosslinks α2-plasmin inhibitor or fibronectin to fibrin α chains.
  • Factor XIII deficiency can result in bleeding disorders, poor wound healing, and recurrent miscarriage.
