ZIP14 (SLC39A14) is a zinc transporter belonging to the LIV-1 subfamily of divalent ion transporters.
Zinc plays essential roles in cellular growth, development, and differentiation.
ZIP14 is a glycosylated multipass plasma membrane protein that contributes to hypozincemia during inflammation and infection, regulated by IL-6 in the liver.
It also mediates uptake of non-transferrin-bound iron and transferrin-bound iron.
