Target Information

The gene encodes subunit B of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone functioning as a neurotransmitter, hormone, and mitogen.
This receptor mediates fast, depolarizing responses in neurons upon activation.
A heteromeric combination of A and B subunits is required for full receptor functionality, as either subunit alone produces receptors with low conductance and response amplitude.
