Product Specific Information
MA3-701 detects human, bovine, rat CRMP5 and its C-terminal region. This antibody is not reactive in mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemical procedures.
In Western blot, it detects an approximately 62 kDa protein corresponding to human CRMP5 from brain extract.
The antigen is a purified protein from human brain, specific for amino acids 369–564 of CRMP5.
Not reactive with other CRMP isoforms.
Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also referred to as ULIP6) are neurologic proteins important for growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 shows low sequence homology with other CRMP members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week.
Elevated levels of autoantibody to CRMP5 are linked to paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic conditions.
Auto-immunity against CRMP5 (mainly N-terminal epitopes) is also being studied as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
