Product Specific Information
- MA3-700 detects human, bovine, rat, and mouse N-terminal region of CRMP5.
- Successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry.
- Detects an ~62 kDa protein corresponding to human CRMP5 from brain extract.
- Antigen is a purified protein from human brain.
- Specific for the N-terminal region (amino acids 1–64).
- Not reactive with other CRMP isoforms.
Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also known as ULIP6) plays a key role in growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 has relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP family members and is expressed in the developing nervous system with peak expression during the first postnatal week.
Elevated autoantibody levels against CRMP5 are associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes.
Autoimmunity against CRMP5 (particularly N-terminal epitopes) is under investigation as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
