Target Information

Holliday junction recognition protein (HJURP) is a centromeric protein essential for the incorporation and maintenance of histone H3-like variant CENPA at centromeres.
It acts as a specific chaperone for CENPA, ensuring proper assembly of newly synthesized CENPA into nucleosomes at replicated centromeres.
HJURP prevents CENPA-H4 tetramerization and premature DNA binding, and directly binds to Holliday junctions.
