Target Information
CYP8B1 (sterol 12-alpha-hydroxylase)는 cytochrome P450 초과가족에 속하는 monooxygenase 효소로, 다양한 내인성 및 외인성 화합물의 대사에 관여합니다. CYP8B1은 간에서 높게 발현되며 담즙산(bile acid) 합성에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 특히 콜산(cholic acid)과 케노데옥시콜산(chenodeoxycholic acid)의 비율을 조절하여 콜레스테롤의 용해도를 조절합니다. 인간 CYP8B1 유전자는 염색체 3p22.1에 위치하며, 501개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단일 엑손 유전자로 intron을 포함하지 않습니다. 해당 유전자의 프로모터는 hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α에 의해 전사 활성화됩니다. 생쥐에서 CYP8B1 유전자가 결실되면 주요 담즙산인 cholate 합성이 억제됩니다.
