Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot and refreeze at -20°C or below for long-term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Centrifuge if solution appears cloudy. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute immediately before use.

This antibody is specific for human PKC beta protein. BLAST analysis indicates cross-reactivity with PKC beta from human and monkey (100% homology), rabbit and bovine (93% homology), and rat and mouse (87% homology). Cross-reactivity with other species has not been determined.

Target Information

The PKC (Protein Kinase C) family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCB1 (PKC beta I), is activated by intracellular signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified, differing in structure, tissue distribution, localization, and substrate specificity. Conventional PKC isoforms (alpha, beta I, beta II, gamma) are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent. PKC family members phosphorylate diverse protein targets and play roles in multiple cellular signaling pathways, serving as receptors for phorbol esters (tumor promoters). PKC beta is involved in processes such as B cell activation, apoptosis, endothelial proliferation, and intestinal sugar absorption. In mice, PKC beta may also regulate neuronal function and stress-related behaviors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
