Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Centrifuge the product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. The product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is specific for mouse eIF3S6/Int6 protein. A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with most eIF3Se/Int6 isoforms from mouse, human, rat, dog, bovine, and monkey based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with EIF3S6/Int6 from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex is required for several steps in the initiation of protein synthesis. It associates with the 40S ribosome and facilitates recruitment of eIF-1, eIF-1A, eIF-2:GTP:methionyl-tRNAi, and eIF-5 to form the 43S preinitiation complex (43S PIC). The eIF-3 complex stimulates mRNA recruitment to the 43S PIC and scanning of the mRNA for AUG recognition. It is also required for disassembly and recycling of post-termination ribosomal complexes and prevents premature joining of the 40S and 60S ribosomal subunits prior to initiation. Additionally, it is required for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) and may act with UPF2 to divert mRNAs from translation to the NMD pathway. It may interact with MCM7 and EPAS1 and regulate proteasome-mediated degradation of these proteins.
