Description:
The 2A6 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD26, a 110 kDa type II transmembrane dimer. CD26 is an ectoenzyme with dipeptidyl peptidase IV activity expressed by T cells and is upregulated upon T cell stimulation. It is thought to play a role in interactions with extracellular matrix molecules and in T cell activation.

Applications Reported:
The 2A6 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
This antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL.
Typical cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD26 (Dipeptidyl Peptidase IV, DPP IV)
Also known as adenosine deaminase (ADA) binding protein, CD26 is a homodimeric atypical serine protease of the prolyl oligopeptidase family. It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation. CD26 is also present on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial cells.

Biological Roles:

• T-cell activation and adhesion with extracellular matrix (e.g., fibronectin, collagens)
• Involvement in HIV infection
• Enzymatic cleavage of X-proline dipeptides from N-terminus of polypeptides

Alterations in CD26 activity are associated with malignant transformation and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
