Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human VEGF-B. Anti-Human VEGF-B-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human VEGF-B by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human VEGF-B (500-P267) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 2000–4000 pg/mL of Recombinant Human VEGF-B.

Western Blot:
To detect Human VEGF-B by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible development reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human VEGF-B is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) are a family of closely related growth factors characterized by a conserved pattern of eight cysteine residues and common VEGF receptors. They stimulate endothelial cells, induce angiogenesis, promote cell migration, increase vascular permeability, and inhibit apoptosis.

VEGFB shares structural similarities with VEGF and PIGF and is frequently co-expressed with VEGF. Two alternatively spliced isoforms exist: VEGFB167 (a basic heparin-binding protein that remains cell-associated) and VEGFB186 (a secreted form). VEGFB stimulates endothelial cell proliferation and binds to VEGFR1 (flt1) but not VEGFR2.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor B is widely expressed, most abundantly in heart, skeletal muscle, and pancreas. VEGFB expression in human primary breast cancers has been associated with lymph node metastasis. The VEGFB gene is located on chromosome 11q13.
