Target Information
Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 6 (PRMT6) is a type I PRMT enzyme that forms omega-N monomethylarginine and asymmetric dimethylarginine derivatives on glycine- and arginine-rich substrates.
Acts as a transcriptional coactivator for steroid hormone receptors (ESR1, ESR2, PGR, NR3C1).
Promotes fasting-induced transcriptional activation of the gluconeogenic program via methylation of CRTC2.
May contribute to innate immunity against HIV-1 by methylating and impairing the function of viral proteins (Tat, Rev, Nucleocapsid p7).
