RNA polymerase II는 mRNA 및 여러 비암호화 RNA의 합성을 담당하는 효소입니다.
POLR2A는 RNA polymerase II의 가장 큰 서브유닛인 RPB1을 암호화합니다.
RPB1의 C-terminal domain (CTD)은 YSPTSPS 반복 서열을 포함하며, 이 서열의 인산화는 전사 관련 인자들의 결합 및 전사 주기 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
특히 Serine-2 및 Serine-5의 인산화는 전사 연장 복합체에 RNA 처리 인자들의 모집을 조절합니다.
