Target Information

STING is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that plays a crucial role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce expression of type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta), establishing a potent antiviral state.
STING may also be involved in:

  • Translocon function influencing type I interferon induction
  • Transduction of apoptotic signals via MHC-II association
  • Detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA
  • Mediating death signaling through ERK pathway activation

Localization: endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane.
Expression: ubiquitous across most tissues.
