Target Information
Catalyzes the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, transferring an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to serine or threonine residues on protein receptors. Although it shows weaker activity compared to GALNT2, it can transfer multiple GalNAc residues to Muc5AC peptide, suggesting cooperative function with other GALNT proteins.
