Product Specific Information

This antibody requires protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections using trypsin or pronase.
For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10^6 cells in 100 µL.
Mouse anti-rat CD68, clone ED1, recognizes the rat ED1 antigen—a heavily glycosylated protein of approximately 90–110 kDa, also known as rat CD68 (Dijkstra et al., 1985).

Target Information

CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on intracellular lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser extent by dendritic cells and peripheral blood granulocytes.
It may play a role in phagocytic activity of tissue macrophages, both in intracellular lysosomal metabolism and extracellular cell-cell or cell-pathogen interactions.
CD68 is expressed by interdigitating reticulum cells in tonsil, some histiocytic lymphomas or histiocytosis, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and granulocytic sarcoma.
Elevated expression of CD68 has been demonstrated on CD34+ cells in various human malignancies, including several AML studies.
