Target Information
BRCC36 forms a holoenzyme complex with BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51, and BRCC45, possessing ubiquitin E3 ligase activity.
Aberrant BRCC36 levels have been observed in sporadic breast tumors.
siRNA-mediated depletion of BRCC36 or BRCC45 increases sensitivity to ionizing radiation and disrupts the G2/M checkpoint, suggesting BRCC36 enhances cellular survival after DNA damage.
BRCC36 is essential for ionizing radiation-induced BRCA1 phosphorylation and nuclear foci formation, indicating potential as a therapeutic target for radiation-resistant breast tumors.
At least two isoforms of BRCC36 are known to exist.
