Target Information
HSPC142 is a component of the BRCA1-A complex, which specifically recognizes Lys-63-linked ubiquitinated histones H2A and H2AX at DNA lesion sites. This recognition targets the BRCA1-BARD1 heterodimer to sites of DNA damage at double-strand breaks (DSBs). The BRCA1-A complex also possesses deubiquitinase activity that removes Lys-63-linked ubiquitin from histones H2A and H2AX.
In the BRCA1-A complex, HSPC142 is required for complex integrity and localization at DSBs. It also likely functions as part of the BRISC complex, which cleaves Lys-63-linked ubiquitin, maintaining the stability of BRE/BRCC45 and supporting deubiquitinase activity mediated by BRCC3/BRCC36.
