Product Specific Information

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal clones for production.

Target Information

SMAD2 (MADH2, MAD2) regulates key cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. It interacts with TGF-beta receptors through SMAD anchor for receptor activation (SARA).
Upon TGF-beta signaling, SMAD2 is phosphorylated, dissociates from SARA, and forms a complex with SMAD4 for nuclear translocation. This complex binds to target promoters and functions as a transcriptional regulator.
SMAD2 activity is modulated by ERK1-mediated phosphorylation and calmodulin interaction. It can also mediate activin signaling via activin type 1 receptor kinase.
Alternative splicing variants encoding SMAD2 have been reported.
