Target Information
HIP2 (UBE2K) accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. It catalyzes the synthesis of Lys-48-linked polyubiquitin chains, mediating selective degradation of short-lived and abnormal proteins such as ER-associated misfolded proteins. Ubiquitinates huntingtin and may suppress apoptosis of lipid-bearing macrophages through p53/TP53 degradation. Involved in ubiquitination and proteolytic processing of NF-kappa-B and supports ubiquitination of NFKB1. During viral infections, it may participate in MHC class I heavy chain degradation and RB1 degradation.
