Target Information
UBE2T is involved in the covalent conjugation of ubiquitin to proteins, regulating diverse cellular pathways. Ubiquitin is transferred through a concerted action of ubiquitin-activating enzyme (E1), ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2, such as UBE2T), and ubiquitin ligase (E3).
UBE2T catalyzes the covalent attachment of ubiquitin to protein substrates, accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex, and catalyzes monoubiquitination. It is involved in mitomycin-C (MMC)-induced DNA repair and monoubiquitination of FANCD2, a key step in the DNA damage pathway.
Defects in the UBE2T gene have been associated with Fanconi anemia of complementation group T.
