Product Specific Information

Description:
The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 is a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction. It recognizes a different epitope from the OKT4 antibody and does not cross-block.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL total volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Fluorophore Information:
PerCP-eFluor 710 emits at 710 nm and is excited by the blue laser (488 nm). Recommended filter: 710/50 bandpass (695/40 acceptable). Ensure instrument compatibility.

Light Sensitivity:
This tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect from light.

Target Information

CD4 antigen functions as a co-receptor for MHC class II molecules and HIV. It is mainly expressed in T-helper lymphocytes but also in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is observed in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain brain and gut regions. It plays a role in T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
