Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of beta Catenin only when phosphorylated at Tyr142.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and signal transduction. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking cell adhesion complexes to the actin cytoskeleton. Beta-catenin also participates in signaling pathways involving tyrosine kinases, phosphatases, and Wnt/Wingless, influencing cell growth and morphogenesis.
It is expressed in various cell types, including hair follicle and epithelial cells. Dysregulation of beta-catenin has been implicated in multiple cancers such as pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, and other solid tumors. In the nucleus, beta-catenin co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting expression of genes like cyclin D and c-myc that drive cell proliferation.
