Target Information
The munc-18 interacting protein (Mint) family consists of evolutionarily conserved adaptor proteins involved in membrane transport and organization. In mammals, three isoforms—Mint1, Mint2, and Mint3—exist.
Mint1 and Mint2 are expressed primarily in the brain and interact with Munc18, a key component of synaptic vesicle fusion. Mint3, expressed in most tissues at low levels in brain and testis, interacts with amyloid precursor protein (APP) via PTB and PDZ domains, potentially regulating APP transport, endocytosis, and metabolism. Abnormal APP metabolism is associated with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
