This antibody recognizes SETD7 (Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SETD7). It binds to a folded domain comprising amino acids 2–366.
SETD7 is a histone methyltransferase that specifically monomethylates Lys-4 of histone H3, serving as an epigenetic transcriptional activation marker.
It plays a central role in activating transcription of genes such as collagenase and insulin.
Target Information
SETD7 is a histone methyltransferase that monomethylates Lys-4 of histone H3, marking regions for transcriptional activation.
It is recruited by IPF1/PDX-1 to the insulin promoter, activating transcription.
SETD7 also methylates non-histone proteins such as p53/TP53, TAF10, and possibly TAF7, recognizing the [KR]-[STA]-K motif.
Monomethylation of Lys-189 in TAF10 increases its affinity for RNA polymerase II, while monomethylation of Lys-372 in p53/TP53 stabilizes the protein and enhances transcriptional activation.
