Reconstitution:
Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening. Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile 20 mM acetic acid to 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Apportion into working aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C. Further dilutions should be made in low endotoxin medium or buffered solution containing a carrier protein (e.g., heat-inactivated FCS or tissue culture grade BSA).Storage:
Store lyophilized protein at 2–8°C or -20°C for long-term storage, preferably desiccated. After reconstitution, apportion into aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMPs) are members of the TGF-beta superfamily involved in bone and cartilage formation. Mature BMPs (30–38 kDa) adopt a cysteine knot configuration similar to TGF-beta. BMP-2 regulates bone matrix protein production and influences stromal cell and osteoclast proliferation. It also plays roles in visceral development, cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and morphogenesis. BMPs bind to type II receptors that recruit type I receptors, activating the Smad signaling pathway.
